MARYBETH and RJ's CLASS NOTES

As we enter the last week of the 2022-23 school year we are filled with pride, gratification, and a touch of melancholy as we say goodbye to this wonderful group of children

These last weeks have been busy as we bring to a close our many projects. We wrapped up our collaboration with Liz's class with a paperbag fashion show inspired by our reading of the Paperbag Princess. The children walked the runway with their book buddies to an audience of teachers and students.

We concluded our study of houses and homes with a fun and demanding building challenge. After reading Roberto Insect Architect, by Nina Landen, the children had to design a home for an insect client. The specifications were exact: the home must have two levels, with two rooms on each floor, and the client (a robotic "Hexbug") must be able to start at the top, travel through all four rooms, and exit onto the carpet on the ground floor. The children had to collaborate in teams in order to bring their vision to life, which is no small task. Each team encountered many challenges along the way and had to repeatedly problem solve, compromise, and adjust their models in order to successfully complete the task.

We have also been binding and decorating simple accordion books which will serve as a portfolio of their work - sketches, paintings, and photographs of the the homes they studied and built this year. The books will be on display at our end of year class dinner on Tuesday evening

Thank you parents for all you contributed to help make this year a success, and for sharing your beautiful children with us.

We hope to see you on Tuesday to celebrate these great kids!
