LUCY'S CLASS NOTES
Wow, we couldn’t have started the school year on a higher note! We have been exploring and discovering new information during field trips since the second day of school. We have been working with the Marine Museum and U.S. Living Saving Station in preparation for our first museum debut! We have been keeping busy learning about different topics ranging from woodwork to watercolors, drilling to sanding, fossils to harpoons, and shipwrecks to natural disasters. The list goes on and on! We are excited to have our work displayed at these museums for the public to see.
Aside from our museum exploration, we have also been escaping into another world through an incredible read-aloud, Beyond the Bright Sea, which tells the story of a young girl who finds the meaning of family and self-identity. Additionally, we have been getting into the rhythm of reflecting and journaling multiple times throughout the week.
Getting to know each other through icebreakers throughout the first month of school has been such a joy. Whether from class bingo or a teamwork-building activity, we see what a true community looks like in the classroom daily.
As a reminder, we will be closed for Staff Development on October 6, 2023. Please support our group at the Annual Amagansett Maritime Heritage Day event on October 7, 2023, and the 33rd Annual Largest Clam contest on October 8, 2023, as we proudly present the projects we have been working on.
