LUCY'S CLASS NOTES
We are heading into Spring break bursting with joy and pride because we completed our books for Budding Authors. After writing multiple drafts, revising, illustrating, and finalizing, we learned the true meaning of “crunch time.” It was challenging with a rewarding result because we now have books ready to publish!
We continue to work on our spreading awareness project this month. The group has designed a t-shirt for their topic and is currently brainstorming movements that resemble the topic and will effectively send a message. We will experiment with the idea of being subtle but bold in the message we are trying to convey. We met with artist and dancer Margaret Garrett to learn about her method and approach to video collages and other art forms. We will apply her information and inspiration to create our work. Who knew spreading awareness could be a form of art?
We finalized our Hayground Daily Goals collage and planned to share it with the whole school! It was interesting to understand the values that form the Hayground culture. As part of our cultural research, a proud Hayground parent, Nina A Olsen, and her brother from Norway came to speak about Norway! We learned about the government, environment, music, holidays, housing, athletes, and more! We learned interesting facts and saw similarities with our local Hayground culture! Let us know if you want to volunteer to speak about culture or cultural dance with our group next time.
