Marybeth & Elijah’s Class Notes
As 2023 comes to a close, we are deep in the world of Shakespeare. Daily rehearsals have been filled with fun and games that encourage the children to leave behind their inhibitions as they prepare for Thursday’s performance. We are so proud of the work they are doing!
In the classroom we are busy working on our mouse mansion. Vivian Denny, a student in Lucy’s class, did a brief presentation on her own “mouse house,” which she builds for hobby. Thus far our walls have been painted and flooring laid. The next phase will include furniture construction followed by accessories, and finally, the creation of our felted mice (and a few snails), come January.
On Friday we were treated to latkes made by Leo’s family. Leo’s mom Julia read allowed Latkes, Latkes Good To Eat, by Naomi Howland, and explained the connection between latkes and the first Hanukkah. It was a lovely visit.
Although our work with Shakespeare isn’t yet complete, we are gearing up for our return in January. Based on the shared interests that emerged from the analysis of our question wall, the children were presented with two potential projects that we could take on in the second half of the school year. They voted between the two and the final decision will be revealed in a special announcement on Friday, at our class celebration.
We look forward to seeing you at our production of Romeo and Juliet, on Thursday!
