Lucy’s Class Notes
Lucy’s group is getting ready to debut the Hayground Museum for the first time on May 6, 2024! One of the many tasks they have done in preparation for the museum was analyzing every yearbook Hayground has ever had and pinpointing exceptional takeaways from each school year. They have also been synthesizing newspaper articles from 1996 to paint the complete picture of when and how Hayground started. Since this was the museum's first year, the curators decided to focus on the first few years to ensure everyone understood how it all started. They also wanted to highlight Hayground’s unique staples, such as Shakespeare and student-made lunches! In this museum, you will interact with historical Hayground documents, artifacts, and beautiful artworks by Hayground students!
Besides curating the museum, Lucy’s group also considered how to advertise it and spread the word! They designed flyers and brochures, filmed advertisement videos, and planned how to provide a photo opportunity for museum visitors to participate if interested.
Lucy’s group will be heading into Spring Break with pride as they celebrate publishing their books with the Bridgehampton Library Budding Authors event. The group covered a range of genres, such as mystery, adventure, nonfiction, and more! They passionately worked through the drafting, revising, peer editing, and finalization phases, and the final product is nothing short of impressive!
Lastly, we spent a day walking through the Longhouse Reserve and saw wonderful pieces of art incorporated into nature. It was a peaceful and beautiful experience that made us excited for the beautiful weather ahead!
Please mark your calendars for the opening of the Hayground Museum on May 6, 2024. You can visit from May 6 through June 7, 2024, during school hours. As a reminder, we will be off for Spring break April 22-26, 2024.
