Lucy’s Class Notes
Lucy’s group is finishing this school year feeling beyond proud as they complete the inaugural Hayground Museum opening. About 200 visitors attended the museum in just one month! They ensured each visitor had an enjoyable experience, from the first greeting at the ticket box office to the smooth journey and farewell as visitors exited the museum. They provided a unique way to share the history of Hayground, how it all started, what the community values are, and other significant accomplishments throughout the years. It was interesting to see how the docents (Lucy’s group) could adjust their conversations from people who never knew Hayground's history to those who were alumni or even founding members of the school. As one can imagine, these conversations were very different, yet both were enriching and a joy to witness.
Lucy’s group didn't stop at the successful museum opening. They dedicated time to reflect on the experience, identifying the aspects that worked well and those that could use more attention. They also pondered which museum elements should be made permanent and started brainstorming new ideas for the next museum opening. This demonstrates their unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, a quality that inspires the faculty.
As if the museum opening wasn’t enough, Lucy's group also embarked on various personal projects to conclude the school year. The students' choices were as diverse as their interests, with projects spanning artwork and poetry, storytelling, mermaid research, fishing lure creations, video editing, miniature soccer field design, a synesthesia study, and much more! This diverse array of projects is a testament to the group's creativity and individuality.
This school year was delightful. There is much to be proud of and even more to look forward to! A reminder that the last day of school is June 14, 2024, with the graduation ceremony and celebration!
