Julie and RJ’s Class Notes
As we return from Winter Break, students are getting re-acclimated to class. We have outlined our projects for the remainder of the year, and they are exciting and many.
Our first order of business has been a focus on developing good questions, which is central to two of our projects; revising our stories to prepare them for publishing, and interviewing Senior Citizens for our upcoming invention challenge. You may have heard that this year’s challenge involves inventing something that will help the lives of Senior Citizens.
We have scheduled a trip for January 17th to the Shelter Island Senior Center to get to know and interview some local seniors. The students are very excited about the project. If you have connections to other local seniors, please let us know, as we would love to gather as much information as possible before we begin brainstorming.
We continue to work on finishing our playground model and have added a small fence around the forested area. We are also enjoying a class read aloud of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, by Grace Lin.
