Marybeth & Elijah's Class Notes
Welcome back! We hope everyone enjoyed a restful and happy holiday season. We are looking forward to getting back into the classroom and resuming our work with your children.
On the Friday before the break we announced the final winner of our new study, and it was met with raucous cheers from all.
And the winner is...Survivors; A Museum of Prehistoric Animals that Outsmarted Extinction!
This project will incorporate themes of evolution, adaptation, natural selection, and causes of extinction. In time the children will each select a “survivor” to research. Excited by a visit to a classroom museum created by Lucy’s class, the children wanted to curate an exhibit of their own, details of which will be decided as the project unfolds.
Upon our return from the break we will finish up our mouse mansion, needle felt its inhabitants, and begin writing stories about them. We will slowly layer in our foundational reading on evolution and extinction, before moving into independent projects. This endeavor will take us through the winter and spring months. Here’s to 2024!
