Marybeth & R.J.’s Class Notes
We have an exciting month ahead of us filled with trips, special visitors, and new endeavors! Students have selected an area of focus for our next phase of research. Some students have expressed an interest in various aspects of the history of whaling while other students would like to study whales themselves. We are very excited for next week when we will reveal their research teams and topics.
We have completed reading aloud Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh, and have begun a new novel titled, Whale of the Wild, by Rosanne Parry. Described by the New York Times as “a dreamily written, slyly educational, rousing maritime adventure,” this book transitions us nicely into our study of wales.
We begin April by putting finishing touches on our budding authors stories. Students are completing their illustrations to support their text. We have enjoyed the revision process and are excited to “publish” our books. The Hampton Library will host a celebration at the end of the month.
We recently had a lovely visit from parent Lisa Krekeler. She hosted a fun, interactive workshop which included a touch of magic, a guest egg named “Eddie,” and a demonstration on how to make a “kindness bracelet” using a metal stamping process to engrave aluminum with inspirational text.
We would like to thank all of you who were able to attend our variety show, Tales of the Deep. We are so proud of the students and feel that the show was a great success.
