Julie’s Class Notes
Our class’ Budding Authors books were submitted to the Hampton Library yesterday, and the kids await the annual celebration where they will read reviews written about their books by the librarians, and meet a published children’s book author. All of the students worked very hard on their stories, and embraced the revision and drafting process of writing. The stories they created allowed them to use their own writer’s voice, and each child’s personality can be felt through their words.
Students are also in the process of writing up their research on an aspect of waste. They are working in small groups to put different information they have found together, present it in a coherent and accessible piece of writing, and reference the sources they used. As a class, we are giving each group feedback about what they have written, and what information may strengthen their report. So far their writing has been very impressive.
Our next steps are to plan our auction, tentatively scheduled for May 14, finish three more up-cycled chairs, design presentation boxes, learn about being auctioneer, and price our chairs. We’ll keep you updated.
