Marybeth's Class Notes
The countdown to our residency with Shakespeare & Company has begun! In one more week
we will begin learning the story of Macbeth, which is sure to captivate the students. Please look for email from Marcelle with details about the residency.
In the meantime, your children have been working hard to complete their independent projects. With the challenging work of drafting and revision mostly behind us, we have been enjoying the art and craft of bookmaking. In addition to writing compelling stories about the 1920’s, the children are set to dazzle you with a variety of handmade books. They have expanded the defi-nition of a book to be anything that tells a story, and so their creations are as varied as their top-ics. Included are a 3D model of of the Chrysler Building, several cardboard “T.V. books”, and others that make creative use of liftable flaps, fabric, paper folding, and sewing. Some children are hand-drawing illustrations and others are embellishing photographs. While a date has not been confirmed, we are planning an outdoor “publication party”, where the children will share their creations with you sometime in early June. Details to follow.
