Liz's Class Notes

Our end of the year trip to Boston marked and celebrated the senior learners' growing autonomy and independence. We began the school year with off-campus apprenticeships to seek mentors and new and exciting learning opportunities. The apprentices developed skills related to their work and a burgeoning sense of responsibility to their mentors and education. While the apprenticeships extended learning beyond the campus, the Senior Learner trip allowed the kids to venture beyond the familiar without their parents to have lots of fun and experience new and exciting learning opportunities with their peers. Our trip was a huge success!

We are continuing our deep dive into the fascinating world of neuroscience and the brain. Late winter was filled with exciting explorations into the brain's anatomy, functioning, adolescent brain development, and the central nervous system. This journey of discovery has been nothing short of fascinating.

There is still much to do this school year, including having fun, finishing our read-aloud The Soul of an Octopus - A Surprising Exploration of into the Wonder of Consciousness by Sy Montgomery, and getting ready to say our tearful goodbyes to our friends and graduates.
