Amy's Class Notes
"Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him." - Maya Angelou
Do you remember having a reading buddy as a child? I can remember my mom reading Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak to me. She read it to me as many times as I asked her to read it to me and I asked a lot! Do you have favorite books from your childhood? I encourage you to pass those cherished stories on by reading them with your child. I am excited to share that your child has been thoughtfully matched with a reading buddy from Tohanash and Lora's class. It has been so special to watch the children in our class take on a leadership role as the older reading buddy in their individual groups. We look forward to this being a part of our week for the remainder of the year!
Spring has sprung and the campus is coming to life. Our class is identifying all flora and fauna on the Hayground School campus as plants and trees come into bloom. We are using the SEEK app by Naturalist to help us identify both plants and animals. Download it to your phone and your child can teach you how to use it. Enjoy!
We will also be using digital cameras to document our work. If you would like to send in a personal camera for your child to begin using, feel free to do so. Otherwise, we have a couple of cameras that we will be sharing amongst the group. I look forward to seeing the world through a different lens with your children.
