Julie's Class Notes

Even with sickness and snowstorms,we have had a fantastic two weeks! We know that Hayground students are extraordinary, but so are their parents! We had the privilege of having two such Hayground parents visit our class over the past couple of weeks. Paul Gartside, master Boat Builder has visited our class twice to work on drawing objects to scale, as well as creating Orthographic Projections of structures. These skills will be invaluable when the students turn their drawings of playground ideas into designs which can actually be built

We also had a visit from Steve Muth, father of Atticus Muth, who is an inventor and member of NYMedics. Steve spoke to the class, and answered questions about his work, about Natural Disasters, and the needs people and communities have after such devastation. Steve gave the students feedback about their ideas for inventions to help after a Natural Disaster; the focus of this year's Invention Challenge.
