Tohanahs & RJ's Class Notes
We've made it past the half point!! February is in full swing and Valentine's Day is here and everyone is excited to make letters for their loved ones. We read "Love Is", by Diane Adams and "I Love You Too", by Ziggy Marley. Fittingly, our letter of the week is "I" . We've also recentlv studied Mm, Jj, and Hh. Among our favorite ways to study letters are group word lists and letter collages. Our sensory play has been filled with new activities. The water table has been host to tissue paper/soap shavings "snow", water beads, kinetic sand, and washing station. Sensory play opens conversations about comparative language, measuring, and imaginative play. The recycling study keeping our fingers busy as we create Big Blocks (cardboard boxes covered in paper mache and colored with tempera paint sticks) and upcycled crayons. A highlight has been peeling the paper off and smashing old crayons with playdough tools. We will continue to work on recycling as the year goes on.
We have reached a mile marker this past week, we have earned enough stones in the Above and Beyond (aka Kindness Jar) to celebrate costume day this Friday, February 18th. We will continue to fill the jar with our acts of kindness and see what new ways we can celebrate our shared victories!
