Julie’s Class Notes
Students are putting the finishing touches on the final drafts of their Budding Authors books. This year, the kids embraced the writing and revision process, and crafted fun, interesting and unique stories. The brave among us read excerpts of their books at Gathering yesterday. It was wonderful see- ing the younger Hayground students enraptured by the stories of their older schoolmates.
We began a new class read aloud, The Water and the Wild, by K.E. Ormsbee. We will continue to develop our writing craft, as we listen and identify beautiful language, imagery, metaphors, and other traits of great writing which Ormsbee uses in this book.
Ideas are flowing for how to use the money we have made from our Hayground Market. Plans for a creating a proper “mud kitchen” on our campus are in the works, as are charitable organizations we could donate to.
We are making products to sell at the Maker Faire on April 13, and choosing which product’s creation to demonstrate at the Faire. If you haven’t reached out about your child participating in the Faire, please do. A few kids said they want to attend, and we can work out transportation the earlier we have a commitment.
