TOHANASH and LORA'S CLASS NOTES
This month we have been busy watching the changes in the world around us. Colorful leaves bring us so many opportunities for learning. In garden we are observing how acorns react to cold weather and learning the life cycle of a butterfly in science. In the classroom, a book that inspired leaf collages for us was, “Leaf Man”, by Lois Ehlert.
During Storytime we continue to sing and read engaging books together. Favorite books have been, “Ghosts in the House”, by Kazuno Kohara, “Room on the Broom”, by Julia Donaldson and “Run Home, Little Mouse”, by Britta Teckentrup. A few overarching themes have been small but mighty characters overcoming their fears and friendship. Group discussions have been so thoughtful and exciting, it is no wonder the story area is one of our most popular areas children gravitate to during free choice.
As emerging writers, we have started labeling our own artwork and practiced writing letters on dry erase boards, in sand, playdough, and in shaving cream to name a few. Name recognition is happening through our sign-in board and cubbies.
We have a few new additions to the classroom. We recently got new water tables. Thank you to Grace and Zoe for helping us put them together on Helping Hands Day! Thank you to all the families that came and those that will join us next time.
We can’t wait to see what everyone dresses up like for our Halloween fashion show! Please meet us at 2:15pm for the special Gathering. Siblings are more then welcome to join the fun!
